Commercial grade Ferrosilicon (FeSi) is of 70% Si Minimum
and it is manufactured in Submerged Arc Furnaces where
Silica from Quartz is reduced to Silicon with suitable
carbonaceous materials at a temperature of 1800 deg C.
Iron in the form of mill scale is added to the furnace to
maintain the required percentage of silicon in the
finished product. It is generally supplied to all
consumers in the form of lumps in the size range of 10 t0
150mm.
We are one of the very few producers who supply 10mm – 70
mm size in the industry.
The majority of Ferrosilicon consumption is in steel
industry as deoxidizer. Apart from that FeSi is used in
auto industry for manufacturing various auto components.
It is also used for manufacturing special steel which is
required in transformers. FeSi has an important role to
play in the manufacturing of some other special alloys
like FeSiMg, Magnesium metal and a few more value added
ferroalloys.
